A-Z Writing Challenge (Q)
Hello my good reading people!!
Today for the A-Z writing challenge is the letter “Q.” The word I got is quench.
Do not quench the Holy Spirit of God by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Ephesians 4:30
So yes the Holy Spirit has sealed our salvation and our bodies can be indwelled by His Spirit! Praise God!! Another scripture says that we need to be filled daily. I tell you what! It can be a amazing thing to allow His Spirit to move us and help us in our daily walk.
This post, though, is about quenching or grieving the Spirit of the Living GOD.
I do not believe His Spirit leaves us but I do believe that we quieten his voice thus making His working ineffective. If we can’t hear HIm how is He going to be able to lead us into all truth? We have to fan His flame by the stirring his gifting. If we are dormant and dry in live we have quenched the Holy Spirit from moving and working in our hearts!
Here I believe are 7 ways that you grieve Him:
- Disbelieving or discrediting the Holy Spirit’s ministry.
2. Not relying on His power.
3. Not asking for the Holy Spirit to fill us but full of carnality and selfish desires.
4. Filling our temples with things that can never satisfy us. Only His Spirit can truly satisfy. Over consumption of food which is gluttony, or alcohol or drug of choice will leave us emptyand wanting more and more to fill us with things that destroy his temple. The scriptures declare that our bodies are to be full of the Holy Spirit…
5. Fearfulness. We can be so filled with Fearfulness that it can cause mental health issues. We should allow the power of His Spirit to control us. We were not given a spirit of fear!!!
6. Resist the devil and HE will flee is another scripture we can resist His Holy Spirit’s working powerfully within and through our lives. Remember that the anointing breaks all yokes.
7. Pride can be a big trigger to quench the Spirit. Thinking we can do all things without the help of His Spirit. His Spirit is our true helper, counseling and bringing comfort to not only us, but to others as well. The scriptures say that if we humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord, then His Spirit will lift us up
My Dear Jesus, help us to see the need of your Holy Spirit within our lives and fill us full of Your holiness. Help us not to be carnal or fleshly but enable us to crucify and deny ourselves to follow you with all our hearts. Take the focus off of us and help us to focus on Jesus living and walking in the power of the Holy Spirit this day in the matchless name above all names. AMEN!!!
