Why I am stuck on GOD'S Grace...
If you have been reading about my writing for a while, you will know that I use the word grace a whole lot. So, I thought I would take the time to share some of where this all started and why I am so stuck on this grace message. I do admit I do throw the word around but that just means it has a valuable meaning for me. By the end of this posting, my hope is that you will understand why it is a important word in my vocabulary...
I was going to a spirit-filled church in 1999. A dear friend told me she had been praying for me. She saw in a vision white dove flying in the sky with a message for me. She as well told me, that God was sending me a message of His grace. The next day while driving and listening to worship music the spirit of GOD came upon me in a great way. I experienced a great deliverance that day. My mind was swept clean and I felt a great peace that whole day. The Lord put the word grace upon my heart. Before that time, I had never given the word much thought. During that time, I started a yahoo group in that same year called A Place of Grace. I could not get enough of GOD'S grace! I literally soaked in his grace...I held onto it for dear life. It became my heart and soul. It gave a hope I never had before...
To this day I put my great hope in His grace. Some may say I use the word loosely. I just cannot get enough of it!! I cannot help myself...The more I have learned to lean on his grace the more I have grown to love Jesus!
So now I am going to do my best to explain with the Holy Spirit's help what I mean by grace. What the message of grace means to me is that I am not under condemnation of sin. I am forgiven and set free to come before GOD and worship Him in Spirit and in truth. Do not get me wrong we all sin and fall short of the glory of GOD. We still have to obey his commands but by His grace we have the power not to sin! Some may say that grace is an easy way out. On the contrary there is an overcoming power there to push through teh mucky waters of our mind and take every thought captive...
God will forgive sin if you truly repent and obey his commands by His amazing grace... I want to post some scriptures now. I pray that you allow it to sink in and really meditate on God's grace and what It means to you...
God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. So, we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. Ephesians 1:5-7
For the Lord God is our sun and our shield.
He gives us grace and glory.
The Lord will withhold no good thing
from those who do what is right.
Psalms 64:11
Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? Romans 6:1-3
Jesus grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him. Luke 2:40
You therefore, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 2:1
As a born again believer in Jesus Christ, I believe we can be strong in the grace of GOD. NOt only inner strength but just as rivers of living waters cannot be stopped we can give of this grace to others around us.
I hope by this posting that you get where I am coming from. there is a strength in God's grace to say no to the sin that attempts to hinder us. We are mighty in God's grace to overcome all sin in our lives. The enemy loves to throw around condemnation...but in Jesus there is nothing but grace!! IF you still do not understand, I pray that the eyes of your understanding be opened to the things of GOD in Christ Jesus. You can leave comments in this blog or email me directly and I will try to help you understand.
May you find this same grace in the eyes of the LORD Jesus! If you seek Him with all your heart, you will find that river that shall never run dry!
Standing Strong in His Grace,
Richard T Hicks
